I was met at almost every ferry by Islanders who were concerned with the situation with another Islander who has medical/behavior issues. No one has witness any violent or self-destructive behavior, but if they do they will contact us immediately.

 

With the warmer weather we have had a large increase in the number of dogs being off leash here on the Island. Only in a City Dog Park or on your own private property may you allow your dog to run off leash. While it is tempting to let your dog run in the surf, be considerate and keep your dogs leashed.

I spoke with an Islander who lives near Centennial Beach and he complained that his neighbor lets his dogs off leash regularly. I asked that he call when this occurs and also spoke to the neighbor in question and made him aware of the complaint and asked that he keep his dogs leashed.

 

Received a call from an Islander who was out looking for their dog who had slipped out of the house.

 

We had a few people call and let us know that there was a film crew working here on the Island. I spoke with Oscar Mokeme who asked about using an ambulance in one of the movie scenes. I directed him to PFD-Dep Chief Terry Walsh

*******Quick reminder--- I've noticed a couple of dogs off their leashes today and spoke with the owners.  Even though you might be with your dog, a leash is required.  It's not a big deal until your dog runs at someone who has their dog on a leash.  So please be mindful of this.  We don't want to issue a bunch of summonses for this, but we will if we have to.  We're always aiming for voluntary compliance.
