Stay inside. Cats and dogs should be kept inside during cold weather. It’s a common belief that dogs and cats are resistant than people to cold weather because of their fur, but it’s untrue. Like people, cats and dogs are susceptible to frostbite and hypothermia and should be kept inside. Longer-haired and thick-coated dog breeds, such as huskies and other dogs bred for colder climates, are more tolerant of cold weather; but no pet should be left outside for long periods of time in below-freezing weather.

1100 - responded to 155 Island Ave. for a person locked out of their vehicle.  Recommendation made to contact AAA.

1230 - follow -up at 141 New Island Ave. past missing person report.  Spoke with parties involved.

1430 - met ferry.

1530 - met ferry and patrolled island.

1750 - met ferry and patrolled island.

1930 - met ferry.

2045 - checked DPW property.

0700 Reported for duty with FF Lt Bragdon

0730 House chores and vehicle inspections fixed the shore power to the emergency vehicles.

Finalized plans for 11 unwanted vehicles to be removed from the island on February 8

Missing juvenile report, located safe returned home

Keep the piece, domestic violence related call

Medical call on Island Ave transported to MMC ER

Patrolled the island and met ferries throughout the day as duties permitted.

 

 

Safety Tip

Please remember not to put wood or coal ashes (HOT OR COLD) in a combustible containers. Even cold ashes can heat back up after being exposed to fresh air. This has caused the loss of at least one house on the island and several smaller fires.

0845 - assisted FD with presentation at Peaks Island Elementary School about fire safety.

1420 - made contact with both parties of a on-going domestic issue in order for the female half to get the rest of her belongings.  Date made a couple of days out. 

1645 - met ferry.

1750 - met ferry and patrolled island.

2100 - checked DPW property .

2300 - patrolled island.

0245 - checked Tolman Rd. for a missing teen.  Negative contact.
