Everyone needs to remember that the freight area for the Ferry at the
bottom of Welch St is not meant for foot traffic or passenger pick up while the
ferry is docked. If you are standing and waiting to get on the ferry you need to
be aware of the forklift and business owners accessing freight at the very end
of the dock. Stepping a few feet to the side is not acceptable-you need to get
out of the path of the equipment/vehicles-under the
covered walkway or the bridge. There is one handicapped parking spot for
passenger pickup/drop off marked at the bottom of Welch St. Passengers being
picked up can wait on the covered benches or the benches in the open air
seating. Once Memorial Day arrives please remember that no vehicle traffic can
move past the crosswalk in front of 6 Welch St while the ferry is docked.
