Police Tip

Lately the island has seen an increase in door to door sales of pre-packaged frozen meat. This one company is claiming to sell Omaha Steaks, this is not the case. I cannot say where they come from but I do know they are not from Omaha Steaks. These "Sales People" rely on high pressure encounters and often use some level of intimidation. The common theme is " I just sold all but one package to your neighbor and I can let it go for xxx amount,...no I can't break up the package ...ok I will break it up for you for xxx but don't tell anyone else.."
They are licensed to sell in the State of Maine however they do not have a permit to sell in the City of Portland. Having said that even if they did have the permit for The City of Portland it excludes the islands. I have escorted them off the island twice now and was very clear that they are not allowed back. Please call us if you see them on the island or are approached by another company.
Remember if it's too good to be true it usually is.

We went on a search and find mission this morning to find a house. None of the houses on the street were labeled with the exception of one. From that one we were able to narrow down our guess as to which house we may be looking at, but it took a little bit of time. We were just being curious, this was not a real emergency, had this been a real emergency we would not have been able to efficiently locate the home. Remember with this nice weather to take time to put up big, bold house numbers for us to see.

Police Tip

Try and make an effort to meet the younger kids in your neighborhood.  Knowing their names and speaking to them on a friendly platform will make it harder for them to act out. It often gives the youngsters reason to pause before making bad choices.  It will also give them a feeling of community if they know everyone knows who they are.
